The intention - to offer comfort to those whose lives were devastated by the typhoon that swept through parts of Taiwan in August.
But not everyone welcomes the Dalai Lama's visit. Some have branded it a political stunt. On arrival he remained firm about the sincerity of the trip.
[Dalai Lama, Tibetan Spiritual Leader]:
"My side: No political agenda, nothing to discuss with the leaders of this country."
Many lost friends and family in the disaster as well as their homes
[Mr. Yen, Villager]:
"Look, there are all these people. He is coming here to comfort us; I'm happy about that."
[Hsu Hsin-Yao, Villager]:
"It's great that he's come; it's good for our hearts."
Earlier in Khaosiung City, protestors gathered at the hotel where the Dalai Lama was staying
[Protest organizer]
"To donate us money or help us rebuild our houses would be more meaningful. What is he doing in this hotel? He should be staying in our village in the disaster area. Has he seen it or not? How can he pray for us?"
Don't you think if than Taiwan ????
He didn't offer - he was asked and if you ask me I wouldn't let him go,
it is too dangerous for him.
Stupidino comment - think before !!

The Dalai lama donated $50, 000 towards the Typhoon relief. For a refugee whose people are facing shortage of funding for vital purposes such as health and education, that is a lot of money. The Chinese communist government and its lackeys are politicising the most innocuous actions. Tibetan saying: Chinese are undone by suspicion; Tibetans are undone by hope.

who do buddhist pray to? I thought there is no spiritual higher power in buddhism.
another thing, the dali lama is full of it, using this event to selfishly promote himself .... I'm glad to see the taiwanese protesting his visit.

Mother Teresa pray and also help in conforting the sick and needy. NOT JUST PRAY. Mother Terasa would have pray with God's heart.
If the intention was to pray for and confort the needy and hurt. why didn't Dalai or the monks find out the exact number is more then 700 people. Instead Dalai said "almost 500 people lost there live..." The person sitting behind Dalai did not find out before the event. No monks wants to find out before the event. TRANSHIMALAYA. That is just not a good excuse.

If you have compassion, love and respect for others, you can be happy with little money.
If you are greedy and your heart is full of hatred for others, than you will feel hungry and unhappy all the time even if you have million dollar.
H.H.the Dalai Lama will teach you how to practice compassion and love for others.
ejmlyqss====you should see the Dalai Lama and learn some compassion.O.K.
