  • holy crap i wonder if or when thats in resteraunts (which ones)

  • yes a touch screen works with pressure, but a normal touch screen can only pick up one signal. multi touch is based on a ir-camera. the pressed surface emits ir-light and that is picked up by the cam. the cam can even read the tags. search youtube for reactable.

  • this was out (made or whatever, shown to public) before the ipod touch. it was at a tech club convention last year.

  • I For No Reason HATE Microsoft but this reminds me of my iPod touch... It looks ok ; )

  • Touch screens work by preassure. Any object can activate it and always has been able to. Infared camera huh? Ok I stand corrected. Its a touch screen monitor, layed down on it's back with a bar code reader under it.

  • That is f'n brilliant. Can't wait until those are in restaurants!

  • actually a normal touch screen is not interactive with the objects placed on it.

microsoft designed their own tags for the system and the infrared camera underneath the screen can read the tag to know the object and what to do with it.

so it's not just touch screen technology... it's a multi touch surface, which works pretty different, in combination with a tagging system

  • Its a simple idea, but yet no-one thought about doing it yet :) Whether thats because it wont be in popular use, or just isn't really worth it, we dont know, but i'm interested in seeing this develop. Plus, of all the companies, Microsoft have the cash to waste! :)

  • yeah but its just the fact that the software is impressive. It's never been done like that before, especially with that type of interaction.
