A view of the future from 1950, the Fender FV-1 electric violin has undergone minor revisions in the past half-century-plus, but the basic form and functional design concept remain the same. With a piezo transducer pickup, two simple controls, and a chambered body, the FV-1 makes for a very gig-worthy fiddle, as well as a great practice violin -- it's audible, but far quieter than a traditional acoustic instrument. That's when unplugged, of course. It's also much, much louder than a traditional violin.
Just for kicks, Owen plugs the Fender FV-1 into a trio of Red Witch pedals and runs them through a Vox AC15, just to find out how synthy / annoying the violin can sound. Wouldn't you know it, the answer on both counts is "very."
