Isn't the problem that they (the organisation as a whole) are above the law? Or at least are/were under this illusion?

Take the confessional box: The priest is obligated not to say anything to anyone if a murder is confessed (an unsolved one, say).

But this prevents justice being served.

Yup, you're quite right. This video, however, is how this woman on the television thought that not only could she claim that the Catholic Church as a whole could not be held responsible, but in one fell swoop then proceeded to blame it all on secularisation. And with that latter statement I spotted the finger of blame starting to move toward people like me: non-believers, humanists, atheists and agnostics. And I am not going to sit here and take that. No bloody way.
