  • Jerry was a fingerpicker. He did not use a flatpick. He used a thumb pick. You can't duplicate the claw style of jerry reed with a flatpick. If you really want to learn to play like jerry check out buster b. Jones and craig dobbins

  • @johntwhitt You are correct about Jerry being a thumb-picker..but I have seen a few players who can "claw" with a flat pick. Check out my new videos of this song and see what you think. Thanks!

  • Thanks! I can definitely post up the rest of the song!

  • I noticed the fingernail on your third finger...how about your first and second? Is that part of the key to being a good finger picker? I never see that mentioned but I can imagine that it must help !!!

BTW...good job on this instructional video !!!!!!1

  • Would love to see you do the same kind of lesson for the intro to "Amos Moses"...great teaching technique and at the right speed for a beginning country player.....

  • Colton, thanks for posting this. You are right, Jerry was the BOMB on guitar. You have done a really nice job with this video. Looks like I'll be up many nights in a row trying to learn this.

  • Thanks for this! I would pay for a lesson on the rest of the song!

  • Nice one Colton, I was trying to learn this intro from the tab and a CD of Jerry. It was a bit too quick for my ear. Having it slowed down and seeing the left hand positions helped me get the timing and feel pretty quickly so thanks a lot.

If you could post the rest of the tune it would certainly make my life easier, ha ha.

    Cheers.

  • jerry is best!

  • Nice lesson. Would be great if you made another video with the other parts of the song.
