How does your Rock Island Armory 1911 compare to your Colt? Does the Colt perform better, since they are the original maker of 1911's?

@averagejoetactical1 Rock Island is a good copy 1911.
They are reasonably priced compared to the colt.
The Colt is a better gun..

Sootch, I have found that old or surplus mags that work fine in the Government model may not work in the commander due to the shorter and thus faster recoil stroke of the slide. When carrying the LWC I always use newer mags like Wilson or McCormick with strong springs to avoid malfunctions.
