Hi Diane,
After seeing this clip, it brought back memories of my Dad playing his circa 1951 Martin Tenor. After he passed it was passed on to me. He and Uncle Ceasar had many a party appearance for the families. Ray

Fantastic! Looks like you need a thumb guard on that uke1 :)

@UKISOCIETY Tnx! Actually I had a great guard on this uke, that protected the instrument for some time. It also compromised the sound. It was okay because I needed it for when I used to have to bang things out on the uke in a certain show. When that was over, I removed the guard. Unfortunately the adhesive took off some of the varnish and top layer wood. So that 'wear' is not actually wear--it's from taking off the guard :-/

@UKISOCIETY Oh, the irony :). Yes, better to take have a better sound than a scratch-free uke. Also, I'm kind of pround of my ukes' scratch marks. Kind of shows the love of playing and its unique history.
Cheers!

@UKISOCIETY I understand the value of character and history that wear gives. For my ukulele (particularly this $5,000~ custom one in the video!) I really baby it, and I have a style of playing where I barely touch the body of the instrument if at all, even with hard strumming, such as in this video.
