NYC Council Ponders Problem of Catcalls

Whistles, catcalls and lewd come-ons from strangers are all too familiar to New York City women, who say they are harassed multiple times a day as they walk down the street. Now lawmakers are examining whether to do something to discourage it. (Oct. 28)

Feminism in the past used to be about equal rights for women in a libertarian sense. Unfortunately modern day feminism has become a sick joke. When they're not using the government to screw over men they're doing something like this. Any 'law' to stop catcalls and whistles is nothing short of an assault on our constitution and will be overturned. You do NOT have a right to not be offended by somebody's free speech.

Furthermore, some women actually like catcalls and whistles. They make her feel good about herself and her body. These modern day feminists who push for laws against these things don't speak for all women, they don't even speak for the majority of women. They only speak for a minority of angry, hateful bitches who want men to not act like men. Personally I have never whistled or catcalled as a woman was passing, but if I lived in NYC I'd be sure to do it now.

i'd love to see how the hell NYC proposes to enforce this 'ban'. NYC is a bunch of assholes.ladies just act like a lady and ignore it. its happened to me ever since i was 11 and i'm almost 15 now. i just completely ignore them and in my head i'm like "fuck you". dont even try to avoid it because uniformed men (aka POLICE and FIREFIGHTERS) have done it to me in addition to hardhats and mechanics, etc.

i'm a minor= sexual abuse. w.e. plus daddy threatens to rip their balls off. <3 you daddy ;)

Well, there are always those Muslim face coverings and full-body clothing for the more sensitive women to wear.

I don't cat-call and never have. It's not my personality. However, when a woman wears skimpy clothing that is designed to draw attention, one can hardly feel sympathetic when she gets exactly what she wanted: Attention.

So some guys whistle or whatever. Get over it or wear more modest clothing.

@IbnSheba: If catcalls are 'deemed' to be harassment, then the NYC council are off their rockers. It would be nothing less than a direct assault on our constitution, and after the first few arrests it would likely be challenged in court and abolished. This is why modern day feminism is a fucking joke, what the hell kind of cause is this?
