Hi Les. Love your playing and tone
I've got the exact same model McIlroy as you have and I love the tone of this instrument. I have experimented with a range of strings for this guitar and I am currently amplifying it through a fishman infinity pick up through an AER Compact 60 amp. What are your preferences in strings and amplification?

Hello Bryn, I also use the AER Compact 60. I actually bought it pre McIlroy, but they sound great together. Had it been available at the time I probably would have tried the Fishman Infinity pickup (I bought the LR Baggs as I wanted a volume control). Strings wise it's Dean Markley Alchemy GoldPhos (12 - 54 gauge). They look radioactive, but never snap and last for ages! Cheers, Les.

Thanks for your comment! The guitar is a McIlroy A25, made in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. They're fantastic guitars - well worth seeking out.

what are you guitar main open tunings ?
STEFYRED 3 years ago
The two main tunings are DGDGAD (basically DADGAD with the A string taken down a tone) ane EADEAE. I always seem to go for natural tunings (no major or minor 3rd)
