Read Psalms 119 verse 104.

@naturallytype1 And it says "you shall receive power"...not that Tongues is Power. It also says that Prophesy edifies the church....Tongues edifies the speaker....not the church.

@gammafreak ...Here's what you forgot.....
1 Corinthians 14 1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Perhaps more shameful is the fact that you edify yourselves and NOT God.

@naturallytype1 You can't edify God, only ourselves and each other. Edify definition from the online dictionary edify . ed·i·fied, ed·i·fy·ing, ed·i·fies
To instruct especially so as to encourage intellectual, moral, or spiritual improvement.
It is not sin to build up ourselves spiritually, to increase our faith and fight the good fight of faith. It is what we are encouraged to do. Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Your interpretation of Tongues is completely wrong. You are misleading people and lying to them. Please read your Bible carefully and pray for wisdom and understanding. Stop twisting scriptures. They spoke to people in the OTHER people's language so THE OTHERS could understand. That's it. It doesn't say anything about YOU having power! Where is that scripture? You are lying and God will hold you accountable for misleading people. Shame on you!

@naturallytype1 The shame here is your ignorance of the word. 1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh NOT UNTO MEN, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Acts 1:8 King James Version (KJV) But ye shall receive POWER, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
