Mike does *not have a youtube account, but gave me permission to upload it, given I give credit, where credit was due.

Im not very familiar with this type of equipment, but I am aware that this engine had just been redone and was on the way back to NJ.

  • Why are Metro-North F40PHs in Pennsylvania?

P.S. Anyone know where I can download that for Trainz 2009?

  • @GenesisSanctuary The original contract with Progress Rail Services includes rebuilds for six of the eight of MN's F40s between now and 2012. I'd assume the other four are 4115, 16, 25, and 4191.

4193 and 4194 are less than 10 years old, so they still have a few years left. The contract includes an option for "the remaining two units," so it would probably be those two, when the time comes.

  • @trainzrok The Metro-North equipment has nothing to do with the dual modes. NJT can not just decide that they want to retire MN's locomotives. The MN stuff will be around until MN decides they want to get rid of it.

  • @GenesisSanctuary YEAH WREID

  • 4908! It's the 4192 with new paint! NJT too has sold 4115, '16, '23, and '25, I think those units. As I know, what was the 4123 already wears the # 4913 now. Keep a lookout for it. The 4115, '16, and '25 are still operating as NJT.

  • About 7 years ago there was an MBTA diesel engine that had an extended stay in the West Springfield rail yard for about a month. Needless to say I was shocked. In fact, MBTA is looking to upgrade some of their diesel fleet in the coming months.

  • @GenesisSanctuary Um, they wont be. The alp-45s will take over every diesel except the PL42 and P40. At least thats what i've heard. Im sure some geeps will become drill engines. The MnCR stuff may stay. Idk though.

  • @NJT4111 True. I'll have to get used to calling it 4908 now. I wonder whn the other F40s are due for a rebuild?

  • There was also MBTA GP40MC #1130 which came back from shops in PA recently. It was on CSX Q422 and Q114 this past week.

  • @GenesisSanctuary

    meaning, it's not 4192.
