The power of travel transforms a broken father-son relationship in the award-winning documentary, "Dream Riders." Bill Roulston persuades his son, Nico, to make a 4,000-mile journey across the United States in an effort to rebuild their failing relationship.
Bill has only a few options left to regain his sons love and respect after a devastating divorce creates a growing emotional divide between father and son. Nicos 18th birthday marks his transition from boy and man, and Bill fears that if he doesnt act now, he could lose his son forever.
The documentary chronicles Bills solution: for father and son to cycle together from Hobuck Beach, Washington, to Coney Island, New York. The planned 65-day journey takes them 97 days to complete.
Watch as the unscripted drama unfolds. The film captures the duos emotional and physical journey on the open road as they encounter bad weather, shared laughs, injuries and misadventures that push their already fragile relationship to its breaking point.
With the vast and varied American landscape as a backdrop, the power of travel helps Bill and Nico transcend their past, reconcile their differences and forge a future with new perceptions of one another.
Dream Riders won awards at the 2009 International Family Film Festival and the 2009 New Strand Film Festival.
