Sapardi Djoko Damono (born 20 March 1940) is a famous Indonesian poet known for lyrical poems.Well known works include Hujan Bulan Juni and Berjalan ke Barat di Waktu Pagi Hari (Walking to the West in the Morning). He is a professor at the University of Indonesia, teaching Literature in the Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia.
His extensive and intensive involvement in the university has borne him the unofficial title 'Professor of Indonesian Poets'. He was once elected dean of the faculty.
He was a founding member of the Lontar Foundation
