A look at the massive influence that foreign has over African people. In this BBC documentary (screened in around 2007), a female reporter spends some time with an Islamic judge in Nigeria and gets a flavour of how sharia law is applied there. This is quite engaging viewing, if only for the judge himself who is quite hilarious (you have to watch to understand what I mean). The picture given by the documentary is that the sharia system doesn't seem half as scary as it is sometimes made out, but still has some very basic flaws.

  • WE NEED TO DEVIDE THIS COUNTRY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE HAUSA - FULANI ARE NOT PART OF US WE IN THE MIDDLE-BELT AND SOUTH DONT WANT THIS. WE ARE CHRISTIANS, SUDAN HAS DONE IT WE CAN TOO. WE ARE NOT MOVING FORWARD BECAUSE THIS PEOPLE ARE DRAWING US BACKWARD.

  • @preciouskitten85 The only hope for a loophole around sharia law is for the citizens to file a appeal and get their case heard by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS COURT.

  • @preciouskitten85 Why would you say that, in Iran & Saudi Arabia there has been Sharia law for years, yet the government still has coffers from the revenue accumulated from oil ,nigeria is the 8th largest exporter of oil not the 8th largest producer.

The NNPC has been dispersing revenue of oil to the states, actually it has always been doing this but now it is actually letting the largest producing oil states in Nigeria get a cut.The government is also working on infrastructure & projects.

If Sharia law were truly enforced to ALL muslims in Nigeria, believe me there will be many "big business men" in the north walking around with their hands cut off- what have they been stealing? Oh, the oil money from the country of course... Nigeria is the 8th producer of oil in the world yet 75% live on less than a dollar a day. The problem with sharia law in Nigeria is that not all muslims living under it are subjected to the same "scrutinity"-
