  • Mate, the only joke around here is you. FSAE is an awesome opportunity for any budding engineer to get involved with. Speaking from experience, at UARC here in Adelaide, we designed everything on that car except the engine, was made in our MechEng workshop or outsourced and made to our specs and drawings, and fully assembled by us. There was no major influence at all from any outsiders.

  • alot of pro racers started on karts and practice on karts when they don't have a track.

    don't disrespect the kart

  • you SUCK go screw

  • my school used to do this but havnt for quite a few years... wish they would bring it back... whats the top speed of the cars... ive heard near 130 but im not sure if thats correct

  • don't tell me 0-100-0 in under 11 seconds is slow, dude, you have no idea what your talking about so stop trashing this vid and watch something else.

  • they can be yeah, but it's not required.

  • Not all teams use forced induction, the team at our university uses a naturally aspirated engine 82hp(@11k rpm). It is a motorcycle engine, although I'm not sure why the power is lower than what you said it was. Maybe just the engine mapping.

  • they're turbocharged also, i forgot to mention :P

  • They're 600cc 4cyl motors from motorcycles, and they're around 90-110hp. and each car is about 450-600lbs. the vehicles stay with the teams at their colleges usually (as is the case at my school), though they often showcase the cars to engineering career fair kind of things

  • By your user name I'm going to infer that you were born in 1982 , which would make you 25 or 26 yrs old. Normal people stop playing with toys, Im sorry, "karts" around the age of 10 and progress to actual motorsports. I wouldn't give up yet if I were you. Maybe one day you'll graduate to a quad or a dune buggy or something. Careful though, those have something called "suspension" which you clearly aren't familiar with. And they won't make you look like an idiot. Also unfamiliar to you I'm sure

  • Seeing a user name that contains the word "drifting" in an obvious reference to motor sports is like a litmus test to automatically determine said user is an absolute moron. Last time I checked drifting was not the fastest way around a corner, and the point of racing is to go fast... When I take my kart to an Auto-X I hear the same type of remarks, but then again if I had an expensive car that was beat by a cheap shifter kart I would be embarrassed too.
