This is the first video before I have it all ready for JBOD status w/ SAS expander. Don't have the fans volt modded yet or backplane hoked up. Because of this you can see the ghettoness I did to get the backplane (which was too high for the case) with the use of two risers (one flexible one UIO supermicro that I had laying around) to get the card properly mounted in the machine. I have two of these setup filled with 15x3TB each.

  • hi =) nice video :) , one question.. you use one controller, and 2 chassis right? or 2 controllers?

i want make one storage... this corret i use one controller and 2 cables.. to conect on backplane to chassis 1 and chassis 2 ?

    thanks :)

  • @guilhermepga That is correct. I have one ARC-1880x controller with two external miniSAS (SFF-8088) each which goes to a SC933 with 15x3 TB disks in it. I then have one raid6 array that is 30x3TB (84 TB usable) which goes over both chassis. I get about 1.7 gigabytes/sec read, 1.1 gigabytes/sec write and power usage is around 250 watts with all 30 disks powered on 250 watts total for both chassis.
