The 1,200 crew onboard includes all the officers on the bridge etc doesn't it? How many actually work in house keeping, waiters etc? Oh, the way you worked it out is totally inaccurate dude.

@HulioZg Hey,fucker,you probably from some Latin country,so do not write something,you do not know,stupid idiot.Do not compare Ukraine to india or philipines.Average 1-room appartment will start from 40.000 $. I have been working on cruise lines,and i know it is going to take 4 to 5 years to buy an apartment ,and it is not even a capital prices.So do not open your fucking mouse.I hope you"l burn in the hell for counting somebody"s else salary,and lying about it

This is refered to cruise lines like Celebrity, Royal, Princes, P&O. There are smaller and more prestigius cruiselines where staff ears more, and there are cruise lines where staff earns much less. Still they come back, because there is no way to earn that much in their homelands.
I'm not arguing wheather this is fair or not to work in such conditions, just commenting on the fact that there is more money out there than it seems.

Some waiter from countires like India, Jamaica, Latin Amercia, Philipines, Ukraine can earn a house or appartment in their homeland in a year. Busboys earn 40-50% less. Cabin stewards earn as much as waiters, their assistants earn like busboys. Maitre'd ears up to 10000$/month, his asistants earn 40-50% less.

Usualy a fair waiter gets tiped from a couple 50$ / 7 day cruise, but he can also get tiped as much as 100$ if he has the skills necessary to charm his guests. That adds up to 40people x average 25$/person=1000$. Depending on the month a good waiter can earn anywhere from 4000-5000 $/month. It's hard work, but for people that come from countries with less possibilites to find any job, this is fantastic.

Work on a cruise ship is no picknick, but since this video is about how much a cruise member earns working in a restaurant or cleaning cabins as a steward, speaking for experience, it is more.
In the restaurant, a waiter earns 21$/person/7 day cruise. A waiter usualy serves 16-20 people/seating. There are two seating, so that makes cca 35-40 poople during the cruise that he serves.

@MyFuckcunt $900??? Mine was $99...
@lenolas33: Yes, there are cases in which the pay is better than they can get. But that's an illegitimate comparison - just because someone is getting oppressed in their home country, why is it okay for cruise ships to oppress them just a little bit less? A fair wage is a fair wage, regardless of who it's being paid to. Cruise ship operators could afford to give them better pay, humane hours, at least one day off a week. All it would mean is slightly less wealthy stockholders.

@lenolas33: I know someone working on a cruise ship right now and have friends who have known many other people working on cruise ships. To say that you have to have worked on a cruise ship to speak up for them is ridiculous - first of all, many people who work on these ships don't have their own chance to speak out, and second of all, many of the people with more privileged positions on the ships don't know what's really going on, or don't care.
