This White Rat I renamed "Snake" was at one time someones pet. It got out and their neighbor caught it in a ive trap. They took it to the pet shop and they wouldn't take it back. They told them it wouldn't live long in the wild. They let it loose anyway. I've never met more irresponsible pet owners. It was here for at least a week and ate well while it was here. But sadly this isn't a happy ending. Either the Hawk, Cat or Owl got it before I could catch in my live trap. This isn't nature when you let a pet loose that had no chance to live. The people should be put out of their house to see how they like living in the wild. So this sadly is "Snake's" one minute of Fame.

  • Either the hawks, eagkes or the owls got him in less than a week.

  • Don't be surprised if you see mixed colored rats around the area. He or she, in all probability, found a mate and followed. You may have some nice colored rats around!

  • @Stevenw609 No the Rat can from a neighbor a couple streets over. He let it out once because he didn't want it any more. His neighbor found it and took it back to him. The pet shop wouldn't take it back so he drove to my neighborhood and dumped it off. Then he moved. You could tell the rat was friendly. There is no doubt it was a pet.

  • RIP Snake ...

that is a bad story, reminds me of people dumping their pet snakes & alligators in nearby waterholes ... I think I even read a story where someone dumped a baby pet shark and it grew pretty big and wreaked a little havoc.

  • It's had to believe people can be so cruel. Thanks for the comment.
