  • You're most welcome, my pleasure to bring everyone a "blast from the past."

  • Hey Dave thanks for posting and sharing your unique stories. Is that a "Kabuki" bass you are playing...I remember those from the 80s...really wonderful instruments. Thanks again!

  • @pdbordelon Hi...yes, it's a Kubicki bass. It was very "hi - fi" in its feel and tone. It worked well for this gig, but I soon longed for the deep, old school sound of a vintage Fender Precision Bass and sold the Kubicki to a Berkeley School of Music student who really loved it.

  • Respond to this video... Ah yes the "kubicki" cool, I too prefer the Fenders now days but I remember the Kubicki had one of the smoothest necks/action ever...our band was playing a lot of "Power Station" and that bas was perfect for that kind of vibe. One more question if you dont mind, is that Leslie speaker horns I see rotating in the white cabinet? Is it part of Robert's or Aimee's rig? Take care.

  • @pdbordelon Ya, these days I prefer an old school Fender P-Bass, played with fingers through a nice fat tubey amp. Ampeg certainly fits that bill.

The Leslie was Robert's and he used it quite a bit. I think he used an old Fender Bandmaster amp to run it.

  • I thought she played bass on this. Great song.

  • @NYtoTX She played bass on it in the studio of course, on the album, but I was hired to play bass on this tour so she should play some guitar or just sing and interact with the audience. I had been friends with the band members for a few years before they asked me to come on tour so we all knew each other and had a great time. Thanks for your comment and checking out these clips. Rock on....

  • Groovy, sexy and a great solo

  • Very impressed with this performance, I was wondering how they could pull it off live. The lead guitar didn't miss a thing. Awesome!

  • Thanks Twin for posting this. I'd like to think of myself not being an out of touch 44 year old guy but this sort of 80's music will ALWAYS stand the test of time. Thanks again for this post!

    Brings back some great memories...

  • As the massive Aimee Mann I've been for a decade, it was a pleasant surprise hearing this exact tune (studio version) at a Safeway a few weeks ago!!! Another of the many songs of hers I wish everyone would get a chance to hear.
