Do you think it's a good idea to allow law enforcement officials to track down anyone's Internet activities without the need for a warrant, all for the sake of national security?

Think again.

Here's an example of what could happen to anyone without the essential legal safeguard of a warrant in place, the same legal safeguard that the Canadian government proposes to revoke in their upcoming omnibus crime bill, calling it "lawful access."

Yes they can follow your IP to a point, but they cannot access your actual account or get into your house without first putting their evidence before a judge. It's called judicial oversight & is what separates Canada from Libya under the dictator. It is a fundamental difference in a democracy. Mandatory minimum sentences also eliminate judicial discretion. These are serious attacks on our democracy.

1) The police would still need a warrant to arrest / raid their house.

2) Even under current laws if it appeared a virus or hacking incident originated from your house the police would have no problem getting a warrant. They would be able to get your IP address from your ISP. They already log that. (who has what IP address when).

Its not really the best example.
