Hi Guys,
If I want to install the floor without removing the baseboards, how will I install it where the door jambs are? do I need to cut the casing / jamb? or can i just install it as it is and cover the door area as well ?
Please advise,
thanks

Thanks for this video! I kept looking for info on how to place a board across the bottom of the door and couldn't find an answer. Duh! I didn't think of cutting the door jamb to hide the expansion gap. THANKS!!!!

Great demo. I just have one additional question. How do you handle the wood trim/stringer next to the wall coming down from the stairs in the video? Would you also undercut next to there so the flooring lays underneath or do you just place the expansion joint next to it and disguise it somehow? Thanks.

you didnt show how to install the laminate under the door jam, maybe consider retitling this video to how to cut a door jam rather than wasting my time.

Dave, thanks so much for this video. I'm presently attending school and learning carpentry and such. Your video was a big help in my understanding of floor baseboard carpentry skills. I learned a great deal. Thanks again sir.

You can also undercut both the stringer and the riser to the stair tread in order to get the best finish.
The installation of a small 1/4 round as a finished edge can cover up any minor chipping that may have occurred.
This small trim piece will also give the maximum coverage that may be required allowing the flooring to easily expand or contract as seasonal conditions may require it to.
The inside corner of the stringer and riser may require minor work with a wood chisel to

Hi tammas2000,
Yes, you should make allowance for the thickness of the saw blade and cut inside the line.
Yes, having the finish slightly tight is a much neater look.
Gently pushing down on flooring and underlayment as you undercut the door frames is desirable.
Using a fine toothed sharp blade will also enhance the finished look.
Thank you for your observations and suggestions,
