Part 2 of 3 Vietnam: Service, Sacrifice and Courage focuses on Tom Waskovich, Green Beret. Tom's comments reference the events at CCN August 23, 1968, overrun by enemy forces resulting in the loss of 17 advisor Green Berets and 600+ indigenous serving with American forces.

Produced by Michael Rothfeld, Florida Veterans Programs & Projects, Inc, Flagler College, directed by Josh Wallace. Documentary dedicated to Leo Chase Jr. who died at Ia Drang Valley, 1965. Events depicted in the movie "We Were Young ... and Soldiers."

I am honored to have my personal combat footage used in this excellent documentary, which includes some of America's bravest men who served their country with distinction. Published with permission of the Producer.

After viewing Part 2, please watch Part 3 & Part 1 if you haven't seen it.

  • 4:17... Huey door gunner.... skid kids. Proud to be one.

  • tom was brainwashed by the american ideal of capital & ownership, cruel oppression too.... And I did study history.

  • '...intelligence gathering...'', who are you kidding? POW snatch, observe/caal in strike and destroy has nothing to do with intel gathering.

  • it wasn't just green berets. it was also seals, and other units.

  • It’s funny sad-strange that Americans & Europeans openly operating in the middle-east as corporation MERCENARIES for a thousand dollars a day, are mislabeled “contractors,” to hide their unlawful presence.

Cambodian, Chinese, Lao or Vietnamese RESIDENTS operating under MACV were being termed mercenaries, when what they were under the Articles were lawful Other Auxiliary in service to RSVN.

  • Flew I Corps (Hue, Hue. Cit) supporting 1MAF in 66. I'll Never Forget all our comrades from the Ia Drang to Khe Sahn, Kontum, Da Lat, Hastings, wherever our blood was spilled. And don't forget our Doctors, Nurses and Red Cross folks who did so much to save lives and bring comfort and a special remberance for Medics/Corpsmen who for more times than can be counted put their lives on the line for our buddies.

  • @LadyboyAgogo what your problem?

  • @1942ann Thanks, but, I'm afraid it's all for naught. So deeply entrenched is the bias and misinformation of Vietnam I don't think anything could show some people the truth. Add to that the B.S. the schools teach about the war and it's no wonder you have a couple of generations who only have one side of the equation. They form thoughts with incomplete information.

  • @GunBroker100 : Well said, very well said!
