Not everything in the old testament is negated, so I suppose that's why. Christians follow the 10 commandments, which is old testament. They worship one God, OT. They follow he basic calender as set out in the OT. They even follow quite a few of the Mosaic laws, it's just the punishment for infraction of those laws that is abrogated in the NT.

I suppose they're preserving a historical document that explains where their document came from, which is a complicated but good thing.

@lesterclaypool1 You know, that's something I never got. If everything in the old testament was basically negated by the new testament- then why is the old testament even included in the Bible. That would be like handing you instructions to run a piece of machinery, but the first half was a total lie and you don't find out unless you read it cover to cover.
