This guy would have been lost at sea 4 minutes ago. Just tie the knot already!
-
He handles the rope and talks for 2:08 then finally starts to show tying the knot. It hangs on his wrist, and he fiddles around for another minute, finally getting it to sort of work. Stupid video. An obese Boy Scout leader does the same method, but pulls it over with the other hand.

Okej, I Really like the idea, but what we have here is a typical: "in theory is superb and cool, in practise it fucked... not a little but totally fucked". Remember... The victim: Is under stress, having panic, in water;Cold, hanging on a cliff, treebranch;gravity! The person throwing, is the person with the energy and ability to make all the knots in the world! Make a fancy "Honda knot" throw a "lasso loop" to the vitctim and off you go to safety. Conclusion: Nice idea... never work in reality.

Not sure which culture pronounces it that way...
In the maritime industry, it's pronounced bowline like (rhymes with toe*-luhn). This differentiates it from bow line (rhymes with cow* wine), which is a specific mooring line.

you shouldnt have it wrap around your wrist. I was taught to have it around the middle of your hand in order to avoid getting wrapped up in it. makes the pass around and through easier.
-
i was taught: sailor comes out of the bar, stumbles around the light post and like a good sailor, stumbles back into the bar.

I had to compete in AZ Thespian Knot Tieing Tech challenge. And i had to tie with with a clove hitch. i beat the record and got first place with a time of 1.99 seconds. True stuff ;)

In boy scouts, the three main knots to know are the square knot, the square lashing, and your bowline. However, in my troop, the scenario was told that you fell down a cliff, broke your arm, and landed on a ledge, and you get passed a rope. With your left hand, acting as the broken arm, you hold the slack end, and you do the normal sequence with your right hand.
it's pronounced "boh linn" like ballin'!
