President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo attended today the 35th Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC & E)

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) convened today at the historic Manila Hotel for the 35th PBC & E, bringing together leaders of industries in the country. None other than President was their guest of honor who also led the awarding for the different personalities who contributed to the rise of the economy particularly in the business sector.
During the conference, PCCI through its president Edgardo Lacson, stated the contribution of the private sector in assistance to the government efforts to uplift the economy. Some of the topics during the conference focused on promoting food security, infrastructure development, re-engineered education, and energy sustainability.

In her speech the president extended her heartfelt thanks for the assistance of the private sector especially to the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. The president also stressed PBCs important flat form in launching milestone policies. According to the president because of the support of the private sector the country in recognized as one of the top emerging economy in the world.

The conference was highlighted with the awarding of the award of recognition to Ambassador Alfredo Yao chairman of the 34th Philippine Business Conference, Special award for Commissioner Marcelino Libanan of the Bureau of Immigration other awardees are for Recognition for Best Workplace POPDEV Awards, PCCI E3 (Excellence in Ecology and Economy), the Most Business Friendly Local Government Unit Award, Most Outstanding Chamber Award, and Intellectual Property Award.

Before ending her speech President Arroyo called on the people to join her in a prayer asking that the country be spared from another disaster brought by climate change.(JDC/RJU)
