21.12.10
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the leaders of two Georgian opposition parties, Nino Burjanadze and Zurab Noghaideli attended the presentation of a new monument on Paklonnaya Gora in Moscow. The monument is the analogue of the memorial of Glory, which was dismantled in Kutaisi, Georgia, a few months ago.
Two soldiers of the Soviet army, Yegorov and Kantaria are engraved on the monument, which was erected in Moscow under the initiative of the Russian PM. Moscow`s new mayor, Sergey Sobyanin and the head of the Georgians` Union in Russia, Mikhiel Khubutia were also attending the presentation.
After the ceremony, Putin met with Georgian leaders separately at the museum of WWII.
After the ten-minute dialogues with each leader of opposition parties, Russian Prime Minister said he hoped that the monument, which was called the Reichstag, would become the beginning of a new stage in Georgia-Russian relations.
