Throughout the early part of the 20th century we were very dependent on Great Britain for defence at least up until the fall of Singapore in 1942. But I think its reasonable to argue that Australians were only part of these conflicts because we were part of the British Commonwealth. My point is that we need to seperate ourselves from destructive elements of US foreign policy.
