Canon Pixma iP 4600 inkjet printer changing ink cartridge

Changing the ink cartridge of my Canon printer. As you can see the lights blink when the ink runs out. The light also blinks slowly if the ink is low. These are compatible ink cartridge which I bought in a package of 12 because $14 each cartridge can get expensive especially with 5 ink cartridges to replace.

Additional comment
When the printer drivers says the ink is out, the ink is really out. Even when an ink cartridge is out you can still print using the other colors. Unlike other printers that won't let you print black and white because a color cartridge is out.

The Canon Pixma IP4600 is a horrible printer. The print quality is fantastic but for each and every poweron it consumes A LOT of ink. also when replacing ONE cartridge it also consumes A LOT of ink. I don't print much and now after printing about 100-200 pages (during a 2 year period) and after replacing ink cartridges about 4 times the ink absorber is full already. Replacing it costs more than purchasing a new printer. I'm NOT going to buy canon again. At least not without doing proper research

@Slurfs It has worked well for me. I've had all three common brands, Epson and HP, before though the time between them is a long time. Replaced when broken. Each printer from each manufacturer have their own problems. This printer has given me less problems than others. I print a few. I print more for others really. I like that that it is not an all in one. So replacing it is easier. I do have a scanner by Canon that I use. The newer models finally have CD printing capability for US customers.

@AkoyPinoy2 My cannon printer works well too but it consumes serious amounts of ink and also will not work (without a service) since the wastepad is full. So even if the printer delivers excellent pictures and text documents it is still a no go since the ink usage is frankly something you can just laugh at. Canons driver and tools are ok and canon usually makes excellent products but ink printers... no way - the ink cartridges should have been at lest 4x larger (each and every one of them).

@Slurfs Well I use compatible cartridges so it is cheaper. Yes it would be nice if they had bigger cartridges. I print occasionally 4x6 photo prints for my mom. There is continuous ink I've seen though those void warranty. I think all inkjet printers have a ink absorbers that may need to be serviced sometime in the lifetime of the printer. Good luck finding a better alternative. I like Canon. It's middle of the line in price for ink with great quality prints.

I just changed the ink catridge on my canon mf 6550 printer but it prints blank. ps could someone help me. thx

kinda not necessary to make a video of a printer getting a new cartridge

although i watched it as i have the exact same printer, bought it at a bargain price at its time. Too bad pixma (those bastards from canon) have released newer ones that allow you print from specific cartridges. Meaning you can print B&W if you wanted if other coloured ink is empty, but you can't for iP4600.

p.s dont' waste money on cartidges just get a refill kit off ebay, got ink and syringe.

I had an Epson with a black, and tricolor cartridge. I would get worried when it thinks the color is low then it runs out when I print a black and white document.

With this printer it would give a warning message and just press OK and continue printing. I haven't run it dry such that lines become visible yet. Also when I change the cartridge it is completely empty. That's good to know you are not wasting ink on bad electronic assumption.

Really? Mine doesn't print anything if even one of the cartridges is out. That's annoying when I want to print a simple B&W document and the cyan cartridge is out. The quality is great but I wish Canon would be a bit more considerate to its customers (then again, it's just a corporation).
