Q: Logging out loses dp?
A: No it doesn't you only lose dp by killing someone who loses 25k or more when they die

Q: So i only need to use 25k?
A: No for the maximum effectivness of the trick you must use 26k in f2p or 76k in p2p

Q: I can get banned for doing the trick?
A: NO. Under no circumstances can you be banned or muted for doing the trick. Jagex has confirmed this yet they do say it is not in the spirit of the game.

i used to do this trick. then i got off my lazy, pixelated ass and did something that actually guarantees profit every hour (woodcutting).

make sure u are in risking 76k while ur partner is risking some i forgot 26k or 76k but u need to make sure u have some EP the higher the ep the better... to raise ep risk over 76k in pvp zone
