Here's a song with some real attitude. "Greenback Dollar" was a big hit for the Kingston Trio in the early 60's and while they did a nice job of it, I prefer the solo version recorded by it's late author, Hoyt Axton. Hoyt was the son of Mae Boren Axton, the co-writer of "Heartbreak Hotel". His mother's notoriety helped Hoyt break into the acting business and I remember seeing him in a "Bonanza" episode playing, what else, a singing, guitar-pickin' cowboy. He went on to write many good songs and I thought he had a great baritone voice. This clip is inspired by his version of "Greenback Dollar". Enjoy. - Fret Killer
