DOGS OF WAR

DOGS OF WAR is a unique chess set design by UK artist Loz Taylor.

The colours of the chess pieces are the same as those worn by racing greyhounds, and represent, to me, ambition, competition and risk. The colours are the same for each set of chess pieces, with only their shape (rectangular or cylindrical) letting players and viewers know that they are opposing forces. Here is the key: King (black and white stripes), Queen (orange), Bishops (black), Knights (white), Rooks (blue), Pawns (red).

Brought to life using stunning 3D visualisation by UK artist Lloyd Austins, Dogs Of War is soon to be made into a high quality physical chess set. Loz Taylor and Lloyd Austins will then use this chess set to re-enact one of the great games between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky (to be videoed).

If there is any sort of demand for this chess set from art collectors or chess enthusiasts, then a limited edition of the chess sets will be made to order. The total number of chess sets has yet to be determined.
