  • @Sinfoniette

Yes he did, and, in fact he willed it to the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. The concertmaster of the San Francisco symphony has it on loan from them during his tenure, in return for providing a certain number of chamber music concerts per year there.

  • @monamaynard i thinks its a guarnerius, but since its been 2 years you probably dont care...

  • @eeuzzy huh?

  • I have never heard heifetz screw up but he did wow 6:10 but he just kept on going which was amazing

  • His Guarneri was the "ex-David." It previously belonged to Ferdinand David, who premiered the Mendelssohn concerto on it

  • Yeah, he had the Dolphin Stradivarius and a 1742 Guarneri. Same year "The Cannon" was made

  • The only violin I can remember he used was the Dolphin Strad, but I don't know the others, nor I knew he used a Guarneri... which one did he use?

  • i believe after he got his Guarnerius in like 1925, he used that violin for his concerts for the rest of his life...possibly interchanging with his stradivarius but not likely concert wise

  • So what violin was he playing for this recording?

  • Beautiful preformance
