Dan was so attuned to human frailty and emotion and brilliantly captured that in his song Windows and Walls.

  • The video as well as the song is so incredibly sad as it is so true. Perhaps we should listen to Dan and visit shut-ins, nursing homes, the elderly at home so alone and feeling / being so forgotten. We shall all be old one day, & as the saying goes: "We reap what we sow". Heartbreakingly beautiful. Dan sang all aspects of life to us. What a wonderful, caring person he was, as well as musician. Thank you Dan for making us think of so many things thru the beautiful music you created for us.

  • So in touch with humanity, our feeble states in life. We long for truth and honesty in life, even if it hurts. We miss you Dan. This world will always miss your words and melodies. God bless our elderly as we all head in that direction.....

  • Thank you for posting. The song and the images are lovely...so sad but so true. It really moved me emotionally. Hopefully it will move me to action with those elderly folks in my world. Thank you again.

  • i have looked and looked for this..thank you for posting... :)

  • I personally know the feeling. Although I am only 52 I have been widowed for almost 2 years. If my daughter had not kicked me in the butt to go back to school, and without my grandchildren, this is what I would be doing. You never realize how much you love someone until you have gone through loosing them. I was married for 31 years, and I still miss the snide remarks, the arms, and just doing things together. He was never one to shower me with praise, but I knew in my heart that he loved me.

  • This whole album was brilliant with great arrangements, but as a follow up to the Innocent Age, critics unfairly dismissed this work. I think some of it may have been the transition for the 70s to the 80s and Eagles breaking up. In any event it was something ancilliary and certainly not the quality of the music nor the introspective vision of the world around him. He clearly sang of things we all felt but couldn't convey. Because he touched our emotions so often folks reacted in defense.

  • Haunting piece. The last bit "windows and walls...day after day...windows and..." gives me chills.

  • Every time I hears this song, it pinches a nerve and I just start to cry. This song reminds me of my grandmother, who lives alone. It makes me feel so bad when I don't visit. Please, for your sanity, respect and cherish your elders any chance you see them.

  • THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF MY MOTHER!!!!

  • ...living and breathing in time & memory to quiet the ticking (the sound tears make) that's trapped within the walls...

  • This is one of the most sad and profound songs Dan ever wrote! Your heart really breaks for the lonely, beaten-down souls in this world! I cry for them, and I cry for me at this present time! Please show and share some love for the lonely and broken-hearted people that you know about and can help! And to the critics, how could they ever be so critical of another Dan Fogelberg masterpiece:Windowsand Walls album! Love and Peace, BobbyK
