I had days, just as you described here, last summer. It was in the high nineties by mid-day and it was very hard and I had blisters, too. I feel for you my friend, even though its in the past, I know what you went through.
So often, I'll carry an unbrella and it really helps in desert country. I keep advocating their use but no one I've spoken to, on any trail, wants to use them, so, they pay the price. Stubborn pride takes its toll in places like the desert, but some people will not learn, even from their own experience. I often think trail-angels should leave umbrellas trailside somewhere, if they really want to help. (I live in desert country).

ramp i know its tough but hold on till you get to the Sierras. it's worth it.
