Our student Andrew Phillip (check his other videos under MrAndrew1101) captures a hang gliding weekend using our new hydraulic payout winch imported from Cloudstreet in the USA. The hydraulic motor regulates the line feed which keeps a constant tension, regardless of vehicle speed or bumpy air.
The winch has thousands of feet of line. Just need an open area to tow from.
The tension in the line keeps the parachute closed, and when the quick release is operated and the line goes slack the parachute opens. This gives me time to reel the line in smoothly with the slight drag on the line feeling the line onto the spool smoothly, and prevents the line from being damaged from being dragged across the ground.
Our event was held at the Rylstone Airstrip in NSW in Australia.
The very clear skies made for cold nights, a very frosty morning, but equally also gave us a beautiful clear blue sky during the day. Hard to believe this is winter!
It was a great night too with a fire in the club house and plenty of stories flowing with the red wine. Thanks to Bill Moyes, Vicki and Gringo Greg for their delicious dinner with its extra chili surprise to add some heat on a cold night!!
