  • did he say holy shit but get bleeped out at 2:12?

  • According to Cosell in his book "I Never Played the Game", prior to this fight Angelo Dundee went into Gonzalez's dressing room and saw that he was hanging out with his family instead of warming up. Dundee then switched Leonard's gloves from 8-ounce Everlast to 6-ounce Reyes gloves (ideal for punchers), then told SRL, "The kid is ice-cold. Nail him." Said Leonard afterwards. "I thought I broke his jaw."

  • @macwit2cs Absolutely devastating punching power.

  • that ref was an idiot. end of story

  • @smimot and the ref insists a defenceless fighter take a couple more just to make sure. The only time I ve seen anything different was Marquez v Katsides. The fight was stopped at the right time without the coup de grace being administered. This only happened because the ref was obviously under orders from HBO because this came directly after Pacquiao v margarito which was allowed to go so far beyond even pacquiao stopped punching hard-bullshit.

  • @smimot You're right as well. He looks closely, hesitates then orders him to continue. It looked as if his gumshield fell out in 2 pieces. I think the ref actually hands him it back. As I get older I'm going off boxing. I never thought I'd say this but MMA is better when it comes to stopping fights at the right moment. This happens all the time in boxing I've seen it over the years. Where a killer blow is landed the stricken fighter manages to haul himself to his feet........

  • @michaelkan1, I watched the fight again and I take back what I posted 3 months ago. The ref did see how bad Gonzalez was hurt, staggering, and still allowed the bout to continue. Brain damage is correct. Ref and the Gonzalez corner.

  • @smimot Im afraid referees are still just as bad. This kind of thing is happening all the time in boxing today. To force Gonzales to face more lethal punches from leonard when he was in no condition to defend himself is very difficult to watch and call entertainment. Talk about brain damage. And where was the corner?

  • referee is an idiot.... ass...
