@Guitarist500 Al Jean was the show runner for season 3 and season 4 which was when the show peaked in quality. His contribution has been massive over the years and he was there when the best stuff was produced.
He also wrote a few episodes which were timeless.
He's no John Schwartzwelder but probably the best show runner and executvie producer.

In terms of writing:
Where's John Swartzwelder? or Mike Scully, Why don't Matt Groening and James L. Brooks write an episode for the new.
Mike Reiss should write a solo episode.

I cant wait for the new Treehouse Of Horror. Im looking foward to the the episode where the Simpsons loose there home and Flanders is there Landlord. I wounder what the Seth Rogan episode will be about.
