During the 1930s, the Great Depression gripped the nation in a stranglehold of unemployment and despair. The creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps(CCC)was a blessing - it put young men to work and helped save our natural resources. From 1933 to 1942, about 3 million "CCC boys" worked in our parks, forests and other public lands all across the nation.
Here in Washington, the CCC helped create one of the finest state park systems in the country. Today, these CCC-built facilities are enjoyed by tens of people each year.
This video relates the story of the CCC in Washington State Parks- "The Best Time of My Life"
This clip is part 1 of a 2 part video and was originally produced in 1994. The video contains original music by Scott Cossu and has a total running time of 17 minutes for parts 1 and 2. Produced by and all rights reserved by Washington State Parks.
This is excellent. Watch both parts! I am a Virginian and grew up enjoying our beautiful CCC parks. I have hiked, kayaked and camped out in them all over the country. The CCC should be restored. It would provide decent jobs, good training and positive experiences for our young people. We do not need wars that waste precious young lives and trillions of dollars. We need strong, independent men and women with survival skills. Corporate fatcats did not make America great. We did!

Great video, but in such low resolution it looks terrible when used full screen. Please upload again, and it should go at 360 and 480p resolution. This is too good to leave it looking like this!
