A short documentary about the great Odd Obsession Movies in Wicker Park and its owner, Brian Chankin. I made this video for a freshman journalism project in 2008.
Update, 1/4/2011: A friend just alerted me to the fact that Roger Ebert embedded my video in a blog post he wrote on the Sun-Times site. Which is kind of bizarre, as, in retrospect, this doc is pretty awful. But they're delightful guys. Link: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert-presents-at-the-movies/ignatiy-vishneve...
Ignatiy looks like a stoner in that interview and at 1:08 those are some serious "dad" jeans - even the tucked in dress shirt. Classic.

What kind of parrot is that in the background? (Or is it a squeaky cart?)

Wow. He's truly doing a wonderful thing. It does my heart good to know there are people like this running brick and mortar video stores that cater to those of us out there with eclectic tastes.

Cool. If I lived in Chicago, I'm sure I'd go there (my brother and I would probably frequent a place like that, we love this kind of thing).
