A truly lived-in Victorian dwelling - each room brims with activity however the dress / hat shop explodes with it .
This is a much higher quality video showing greater detail than the original "Penultimate Victorian Dolls House" This Victorian dolls house has been compiled over many years. The items within come from all around the world. Real Stirling Silver knives & forks and crystal glasses. Gold leaf picture frames and real bone china tableware and even real leather shoes.
Many items inside have their own story - the silver cutlery and picture frames are made by a US commercial jet pilot who makes them in his spare time. The leather shoes are made by a lady who is also from the US who is a teacher by profession. Some items of furniture were made by a UK prison inmate so the items contained come from all walks of life...
There are so many people who make items for dolls houses in their spare time but its only the best items my wife would buy which would find their way into her pride & joy. As the video progresses you will see the many items within each of the rooms that go into making the whole dolls house "work" and if you keep hitting the pause button you will see more and more items.
All I can add is that everything within this house is made of the same material as the real thing - but in miniature...
I have had a small input into this as I made the flickering light in the gas lamp post outside the shop - it took six goes at getting a lamp that had the right flicker and rate / colour before my wife was happy with it to be installed...
The wonder of this dollshouse is that it remains hidden from everyones eyes and its only when a person opens the front that a whole new world is revealed like a dream...
Enjoy. version.

  • @brucepeter2007..oh, I see. Ok, well thank you so much for your reply and advice! Keep up the great job in creating your little spaces!

  • @damnatureufkdup Reply - In reply to your question we found little help on-line or in most mags because the best cost effective bits are a cottage industry type of thing - you only found them at more local dolls house fairs. The best show we found in the UK was the Kensington Dolls House Fair which had traders who had to be "invited" and you had the best makers from Europe and even the USA selling their wares. You just have to see with your own eyes what your buying so it "looks right"

  • @brucepeter2007...yes, they ARE really a lot of fun! I've always been attracted to and intrigued by miniatures and a dolls house is the perfect venue for showcasing little things. Funny how those little things add up though, huh ")

Question - did the two of you find any online communities or blogs that allowed people to exchange ideas and/or affordable places/sites to purchase items?

  • @damnatureufkdup Thanks for you words of wisdom and you are right on the cost factor but I must point out that each part is a small cost and that was how it was built up over a few years to get it right. The cost was never an issue because of the fun we both had doing the project. Going to shows within about 100 miles and meeting the people who make the items was also fun. Fantastic project for my wife and me at the time.
