Off The Shelf (Let's Play): God of War [PS2][HD] - Part 4: To the Gates of Athens

Finish off the Hydra and get the key of the captain from inside the belly of the Hydra. Run back to save the people locked in the room. Once the cutscene plays, we head for the shores of Athens.

I just bought the God of War Collection for PS3 and I'm playing these games for the first time. I'm finding it difficult to mash the O-button during the kill sequences. What's the trick? Do you have to tense up your arm?
