Hi, my name is Josh Kallenberg and I'm here at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California. I've been flying professionally for about 13 years, and now I have the pleasure of flying this Gulfstream G450 which is a lot of fun and exciting. And today I'm going to talk to you about becoming a pilot. Say how to take your career to the next level in aviation. So, once you built up that viable flight experience whether as a co-pilot or as a flight instructor and you probably gonna need somewhere between at least 500 hours to 1,000 hours to get going. You could kinda get to two main opt, two main options that it's either you are gonna go with the airlines or go towards corporate aviation. Let's talk about some of different options you can explore and your path towards professional aviation. The most common ones are commercial or airline and that of corporate, or they called charter flying, or private flying. Both require similar type of experience but maybe some might require a little more than others. It depends on the airlines. It depends on the company. But probably you're going not to get job to at least say 500 hours to a 1,000 hours before some company actually start looking at you. There are some other options that you have. Perhaps, you can look at a flying for a law enforcement agencies, other governmental agencies. Uh, there is search and rescue, or, um, missionary, uh, you know, projects, there is a whole slew of, uh, other areas you can decide to choose a career [towards]. The other option, you can fly is you can fly for the military. Obviously, they got great training. It's great experience but there is obviously a long commitment.

If you do your research you will find that in some areas of aviation, such as flying ultralights, it is not required to even take a test. You could literally fly blind if you wanted to, of course I wouldn't recommend it. So even though you will never be able to fly a 747, you can still fly something.

  • Not really, most corporate pilots started off as airline pilots. Most airline pilots wan't to be corporate pilots. The problem is the lack of jobs in the corporate sector. Corporate jobs also pay more than airlines. Its not really an option. Most people will end up in low paying airline jobs whether they like it or not.

Yes in most cases they do. But really, being a pilot is one of those things that people dream of as children. its really a dream job. Its unfortunate that it doesn't pay very much, at least when you are starting out, but neither does being a firefighter or a police officer. Most people do those jobs because they love it. I can't say the same for truck drivers although I am sure there are people that love to drive. Keep in mind though that after a few years salaries reach over $100K.

  • truck drivers make way more that pilots. look it up.
