Guys, it reads gambhira in the album itself... so we can settle down on that fact...
Now does anyone have the swaram notes for this one??? I am trying to play this one with my violin... I am having a hard time trying to figure out the swaras... Please help me!!! Thanks in advance :)

I THINK YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!!

@aravindkr It is very interesting topic. Where should we draw the line? I mean if include bass, why not electric guitar as violin is electric, and then go on and incorporate a synthesizer too. :) But very interesting topic.

Excellent stuff....thanks carnaticopia. Sounds like Kedaram. Can you please add Khanjira-Abhishek Raghuram to the credits?
-
I think the Khanjira player is Abhishek Raghuram

it has been on my mind for months actually! bass should defly be a mainstream instrument.
-
carnaticopia,
any idea who the young chap on the Kanjeera is? In your credits you have not mentioned him and hence my question.

I love the way Arun Kumar contorts his face while playing the drums - awesome drummer! Keith Peters' bass beautifully fills out. I think bass should become a mainstream instrument in Carnatic concerts.
Hello, it is gamBira nATTai only. The swara sanchAram is all linear. We do not hear the sa ma ga ma vakram in the ArohaNam at all, which is the most unmistakable swara sancharam in kedAram. Also, there is no rishaBham in avarOhaNam. So it is not kedAram. Listen to rAmA nI pai by Tyagaraja and compare for kedAram. Or listen to innum ennai from the movie Singara Velan and compare for gamBhIra nAttai.

Hi tanapp, Thanks for taking the time to explain. I shall check up on your pointers, and confirm. Also, I'll re-confirm with the guys who were leaning towards kedaram. Meanwhile, I shall change it to gambheera nattai. Thanks again.

Hey this is not kEdAram. It is gamBhIra nATTai. Kumaresh clearly states that is is about the Majestic India - gamBhIra! Please correct the Raga name in the title, so it won't be misleading.

Hi, Gambheera nATTai and kEdAram are already close ragams. I am aware that he states it's Gambheera. Initially, I had labeled it Gambheera nattai. But the more I listened to the piece, the more I felt they are playing it like kedaram. Also, I checked with a few people, and they said it sounded more like kedaram. That's why I changed it to kEdAram. Please check both ragams, and how they play it. If you still feel it's gambhira nattai, I shall change it. Thanks.
