quick question. If you cant put sodium out with water. What do you use, oil?

You can use several different things to put out a sodium fire. Oil would not be a good choice because it can burn. CO2 would work but CO2 extinguishers tend to blow things everywhere and you don't want to blow a burning solid all over the room. Sand can be a very good fire extinguisher. It's cheap, pretty easy to clean up, and very chemically inert. It also does not blow things all over the place. In the case of a sodium fire, or other cases of burning solids, sand is usually your best bet.
