    Absolutely not joking, if you analyze it with an instrument you'll see/hear that I'm right about this. Pavarotti had to use falsetto to reach these very high notes (the high E for example), he does that in this video for example. MMe76bCxsWA

    Your ears are probably "confused", because Pavarotti's voice is much softer, it then sounds higher.
