Dalton Mayor David Pennington unveiled a new vision for the city Thursday to the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce. Plans being developed by the city call for it to become more pedestrian friendly, with bicycling and walking trails connecting the area's parks and recreation facilities. The plan also calls for new recreational opportunities such as canoeing and paddle boats on the Haig Mill reservoir. Those plans also anticipate that Crawford Street will be turned into an outdoor mall, with a tree-filled median, linking parks on either side of the city.
