The cold-green photo of Cora Madou used two years ago in my first video devoted to this singer was soon copied by various sites (which happened also to many other unique materials from my collection...) and now is available to everyone in so called "public domain".
It returns, however, in the present work.

Cora Madou seems to be forgotten, judging at least by the fact how few things of her artistic legacy can be found here or in the shops.
A great talent and personality.
The present video seems to be of a special value as on the recording session which took part in the Polydor studio, Paris in 1930, Miss Madou was performing a few songs composed by the distinguished French musician, Vincent Scotto who was personally accompanying the singing artist on the guitar.
Here and now the song "Passion" - absolute favourite of mine...:))

For collectors more interested in details, the label
of the record in true colours appears at 3:20.

Cora Madou.
Born on January 5, 1891 in Marseilles, Cora Madou (her true name, Jeanne Odaglia) began career in Paris in 1919 in a cabaret held by Nilson Fyscher. Acclaimed by the public, adulated by the press, Cora Madou never appeared on large scenes as she preferred to enter into closer contact with each spectator. Consequently, she used to perform in small cabarets, accompanied by the piano only. Her most famous songs are " J'ai rêvé d'une fleur "(I dreamed of a flower), " Tu m'fais rire"(You make me laugh), " Ecoute ma guitare" ( Listen to my guitar). Died on February 26, 1971 in Villefranche-on-sea.

Vincent Scotto (18761952) - a French composer. Started his career in Marseille in 1906 and later moved to Paris.
Over the course of a lifetime, he wrote 4,000 songs as well as sixty operettas. He was also friends with Marcrel Pagnol and wrote music for his films. He wrote music for about fifty films in the 1940s and 1950s, and sometimes appeared in them as an actor. In 1973, a biographical TV film was broadcast, La Vie rêvée de Vincent Scotto..
A bust of Vincent Scotto can be found facing the Vieux Port in Place aux Huiles, Marseille.

  • Did 'Just a Gigolo' evolve from this song? I hear the same basic tune.

I needed a copper-based green to complement the shrimp hues of the building on my channel page. I'll make this my lead video for a while (hate to sound shallow, but I'm shallow...).

    Thanks for another rarity.

  • "Copper-based green" - thanks for English language lesson: that's the word

I was looking for when making colour base of my present work.

You do not seem being "shallow" having found traces of "Gigolo" in this music; but I think - only in the first part; Chorus has its own musical rule.

    Thanks.

  • I like those " Icy " early photographs of Paris and this emotional performed song very much.

You exactly know how to surprise the visitors of your channel time after time ... !

  • Well... a good, true source of inspiration

    is indispensable...-

  • a great work beautifully ilustrated, thank you very much jurek

  • Gracias, Amigo,

  • I'm glad my comment proved useful. Malachite (Copper Carbonate) and Verdigris (Copper Acetate) are both naturally occurring Copper-based pigments. My Mom (a Commercial Designer) emailed to say that Thalo Green is a word frequently tossed about to describe a color hue in that range.

But I think 'Copper-based' conveys best the historic associations of the color. I grew up installing copper roofs on mansions, and my Father's clients were obsessed with hastening the development of Verdigris.

  • She really poured her heart into this rendition.

Creative graphics, as usual, my friend.

  • Thanks to you, P.

    True feeling (and interpretation)

    are ageless,

    J.

  • Après 110 ans ...-

    Merci, Teo,

    Dziękuję Gabi,
