he should have patented the vaccine but leave the proceeds to cancer and disease research
-
Rest in peace Dr Salk you were a great man
-
I agree that he does but I don't think he really cared himself. Mr. Salk was a very humble man and he resented all fame and attention he recieved from the world over his great discovery. Mr. Salk wished for the return of his anonymity and get back to his private research but all that attention made it impossible. Mr. Salk was a true champion to humanity, he never sought to gain anything from his accomplishment other than to help mankind.

@Trashcanman333 Sabin needed Salk's vaccine to create his own. Salk's vaccine is much less effective at preventing the spread of polio. Sabin was determined to eliminate the gestation o f the polio virus in inoculated individuals, thereby eliminating the possibility that it could be transmitted. Salk is heralded as such a hero because he was a brilliant man, who spent years of his life grinding up monkey kidneys in a blender, he could have been rich many times over but relinquished patent rights
-
We don't actually use his Vaccine anymore, the U.S. uses Albert Sabin he was working on a cure at the same as Salk and his vaccine is better than Salks but it took him a few mores years to finish it.

He was a good man. Salk refused to patent the vaccine because he thought it should be for everyone.
