22 Year Old Belgium violinist Lorenzo Gatto performing Saint Saens' Havanaise Op. 83 in the Semi Finals of the 2009 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition in Brussels | Gatto studied at the Brussels Conservatoire and the Queen Elisabeth College of Music, with Véronique Bogaerts and Augustin Dumay, and the Vienna Conservatory with Boris Kuschnir | Gatto won first prize in the RNCM International Violin Competition in 2005 and the Andrea Postacchini Competition in 2003 | The Violin Channel

  • I've seen many violinists do it with a 1,3 all the way up, but using hand vibrato technique to create incremental and discrete notes.

  • He cheated a little bit at the parts around 17:00. I don't think it was originally a chromatic, but rather a 1,3-2,4-1,3-2,4 fingering all the way up. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this performance. Bravi to both soloist and the pianist.
