President Bush declared that "America is addicted to oil" - just a few months later, gasoline prices are at an all time high.

Oil companies and their executives are raking in record breaking profits. Our dependence on oil puts our national security at risk, hurts us economically, and endangers our environment.

  • it takes 1 real dumb president to make our economy collapse.

  • So interest in alternative energy is always the highest at the top of the petroleum cycle. A lot of investment money goes into projects that are uneconomic at the low point of the cycle. These investments are also usually subsidized but are quickly abandoned when fuel prices decline because the decisions are based on politics not on economic factors.

  • Ethanol net energy loser. I generally agree with RR buy not here. Electric cars, mass transit and alge derived biodiesel are better bets.

  • Ethanol was such a horrible answer. I raised the price of corn products and it was just as dirty.

  • The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.

We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity.

Look for the LT MAGNET MOTOR in youtube video search. Join the Revolution!!

  • now this is a man i would have loved to work with...however it would seem due to the connection my life seems to have to no talent low lifes who feed off people...or moms and kids with talent to compensat...the idea is highly doubtful

  • why never any mention about animal consumption/factory farming?

  • Lower the interest then tighten up the credit is called wealth transferring. It's perhaps the largest wealthy transferring in US history and they couldn't have accomplished it without the help of stupid lower socioeconomic class Americans. The $700billion bailout maybe failed today but, you mark my word, it'll pass in the nearest future.

  • The problem is that governments are eternal screw-ups and to expect them to lead the way on anything is not the way. Developments have been made and more are needed - agreed.

Right now, and in the immediate future, oil is needed. The US is better to produce and refine it and keep the wealth here. Continuing to allow the Arabs to call the shots is foolish. It seems the left would prefer the US maintain this relationship.

  • Yes, I understand and agree with that accessment, however it is foolish to rely on oil for our future needs for energy. It is still, and always will be, a limited commodity. Therefore taking the steps to implement a new form of renewable energy is vital for us to begin now. It is also important that this source of energy be cleaner to reduce pollution and cut down on the buildup of greenhouse gasses.
